It’s already the middle of March, so I figured it was time for at least one blog update. Emily’s turning three next month and she’s transforming from toddler to kid right before our eyes. Her language is blossoming – she chats up a storm. I think she gets clearer every day, and I love to have little conversations with her.
We are skipping the annual cleft team visit this year – NYU doesn’t need to see them at three years old anymore except to evaluate speech and Emily’s speech is excellent. We’ll resume our annual visits next year when she may also begin the orthodontia she needs to begin pulling her upper jaw forward and (though I’m not sure about this) I HOPE straightening her teeth. Although I guess it doesn’t make sense to straighten baby teeth since they’ll fall out anyway.

Fun facts about Emily (just humor me): She loves princess movies of the Barbie variety (joy) – here she is in the Pauper’s dress from Princess and the Pauper. She will dress up in any princess outfit and twirl around many times before falling over. She still loves to draw and it turns out she’s very good at painting, though I still don’t know if this is more of a factor of a physical intelligence on her part (e.g., she has great eye-hand coordination) or if she’s just very artistic. She enjoys playing with Polly Pocket dolls, Barbies, trains and her toy drum (with her daddy’s real drum sticks).
I’ll no doubt post again in April with a birthday update (her birthday is April 15th). Ah, Tax day. She and Ana are my sweetest deductions.
