I cried after reading your letter. I have a 4 year old daughter with a bilateral cleft/palate so I understand how you feel. I pray for you and your family each time I read your blog. I wish that I was able to speak with you or someone because I know I soon will be going through this. Best wishes!

Thank you for posting this blog. I have an almost three year old daughter who was born with bilateral cleft lip and palate. We have done two surgeries so far but as you know have a few more to go. Reading about your Emily is so wonderful and so heartbreaking as she and you are facing the challenges that lay before us. She is a beautiful little girl and my heart hurts for her and for my Ava that they have to go through this. Your post last night had me in tears. I wish I could take it all away, I wish I could prevent every upset and every pain that Ava will ever feel. Cleft related or not.

I’m so happy she feels better today. Thank you for your song Emily. You are a wonderful singer.

Thank you so much for your day by day posts. My son is scheduled to have the same surgery tomorrow morning. We are trying to prepare and reading your words, although it brought tears to my eyes makes me feel like we are not alone. I wish you and Emily all the best. My son, Brayden has asked me countless times “why can’t I be normal” and your letter to Emily sums it up perfectly. Thanks again.

Dear Emily;
You don’t know me and I live on the other side of North America in Canada. Emily, I am so very proud of you and think you are so courageous! Please don’t be ashamed of your reflection, you have endured and have earned the great beauty that graces your face. I am amazed just how well you are doing and hope the swelling goes away soon. Keep making those great crafts and I look forward to seeing pictures of other Emily Creations.
